As luxury crossover SUVs, the 2022 Genesis GV70 and BMW X3 have more than a few things in common. At first, their similarities might create a difficult choice. But, by the end of our comparison guide, you’ll know exactly which luxury cruiser will be your favorite.
Attractive Price Tag: 2022 Genesis GV70
When it comes to exterior style, premium power, and rich interior luxury, the 2022 Genesis GV70 is highly competitive. But it also gives you all of the above at a great price, starting at $40,000.
The BMW X3 has a higher recommended starting price: $43,000. And, as we’ll see, it doesn’t give you quite as much for your money, either.
Premium Performance: 2022 Genesis GV70
When it comes to standard power, the GV70 offers the clear advantage. The entry-level 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine streaks past the base BMW X3 with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The BMW X30 comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which, with 248 horses and 258 pound-feet of torque, is pretty fast. It’s just not as fast as the GV70.
Both small luxury SUVs offer speedier performance via optional six-cylinder engines. To be the fastest you can be in the GV70, upgrade to the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 (375 horses, 391 lb-ft). The BMW X3 provides its quickest ride with the optional 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine (382 hp, 365 lb-ft).
Luxurious Comfort and Style: It’s a Tie!
You can count on both the 2022 Genesis GV70 and BMW X3 to turn heads with their flashy exteriors. Either model lets you choose from a variety of splashy wheel designs and shiny trim offerings.
And both models also feature plush, stylish cabins. Seating is roomy and supportive all around, and the seats can easily be clad in handsome leather upholstery. You’ll also find lots of available comforts, like heated and ventilated seating.
Best Warranty: 2022 Genesis GV70
Genesis treats you to one of the best possible automotive warranties available anywhere. Basic coverage lasts five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. And the limited powertrain warranty will keep you rolling, worry-free, for 10 years or 100,000 miles. If you plan to do a lot of traveling in your GV70, the powertrain warranty is all the more enticing.
Instead of separate warranties for different components, BMW offers one comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper warranty. It will last four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. That’s not the same kind of peace of mind you get with the GV70, but it might not matter if you’re not planning on hanging onto your luxury SUV for more than a few years.
In the small luxury SUV segment, the BMW X3 is an attractive competitor. But it can’t quite match the 2022 Genesis GV70 in terms of power, price, and warranty coverage. If you want a cutting-edge luxury drive, you can’t miss the all-new GV70.
