A month after unveiling its design, Genesis has revealed the technical specifications of its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), the 2022 Genesis GV60. We must say the GV60 is quite the beauty, and boy is it capable. If you’re curious to know what the luxury EV brings to the table, keep reading this blog from Genesis of Highland Park, IL, to find out.
Electric Powertrains and Performance
The Genesis GV60 will be Genesis’ first electric vehicle to be built on the dedicated EV platform called Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It will be powered by a 77.4 kWh battery pack and offered in either a rear-wheel drive (RWD) single electric motor or all-wheel drive (AWD) with dual electric motors. The standard RWD model with a single-motor electric powertrain makes 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, whereas the dual-motor AWD model gets two electric motors that send 314 hp and 446 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. There will also be a GV60 Performance model with dual-motors rated at 429 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque in the Sports Mode and up to 483 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque in a dedicated Boost Mode.
The AWD Genesis GV60 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds in the dedicated Boost Mode. However, as the name indicates, the Boost Mode will only last 10 seconds after pressing the dedicated button mounted on the steering wheel. You’ll also be happy to know that the GV60 will have a Drift Mode, which provides athletic driving by optimizing the distribution of driving power and braking system.

Genesis GV60 Range
Although Genesis hasn’t revealed the US EPA range ratings for the GV60 yet, the Korean RWD variants offer an impressive 280-mile all-electric range. On the other hand, the AWD variant offers 249 miles, and the top-end Performance model gets a claimed 229-mile range. And in the battery runs out, you can charge the 77.4-kWh battery pack from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes using the 350-kW fast charging.
Virtual Driving Experience
Being an EV, 2022 Genesis GV60 will emit zero tailpipe emissions. However, it will reproduce virtual engine noise through the speakers. Genesis calls this feature electric-Active Sound Design (e-ASD), and its purpose is to give you a natural feel of driving, albeit virtually. The sounds change according to the vehicle’s speed, drive mode, and how much you put your feet down the accelerator pedal.
The GV60 will feature 19-inch wheels on the standard RWD models and 21-inch wheels on the AWD Performance models. It comes with a choice of 11 exterior colors which include fresh hues, like São Paulo Lime, Hanauma Mint, Atacama Copper, and Atacama Copper Matte.
The Genesis GV60 brings a luxurious interior with cutting-edge technologies like facial recognition that allows you to unlock and start the GV60. It also gets fingerprint readers on the door handles and dashboard for authentication. However, the star of the show is the center controller that’s designed like a crystal sphere.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Genesis GV60 as it becomes available.
